John H. Harmon
October 2, 2021
After much thought and prayer, our family has decided that based on COVID conditions in Franklin County, we must move the 2021 John H. Harmon 5k to fully virtual again this year. This was an extremely hard and disappointing decision. However, we also know first hand the pain and suffering lung diseases cause and do not want to risk causing anyone else that pain. Adding to that our hospitals are full, and if anyone gets sick due to our event, care may not be readily available. We thank our doctors, nurses and all health care staff for their dedication and recognize our obligation not to add to their already unimaginable burdens..
If you have ordered a t-shirt you may pick it up at Jennings Autobody at 251 Grant Street in Chambersburg on Friday October 1 from 5pm to 6pm. If you are unable to make this time, please contact us to make other arrangements.
We ask that you please continue to sign up and participate - wherever you are. We want to see your pictures too. When you complete your virtual 5k - be sure to post your pictures on Facebook with #JHH5k2021. We will hold drawings - all entrants will be entered to win a “door prize.” If you share your picture by October 9, you will get a second entry in the drawing. Winners will receive their prize in the or we will contact you to make arrangements.
If you would like to go to Gearhouse on October 2, please notify us by September 30 and we will be sure you get your drink ticket when you pick up your t-shirt.
Finally - please consider donating to lung research at Hershey Medical Center. In addition to Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis, Emphysema, lung cancer, COPD, cystic fibrosis and other lung diseases, we now add COVID-19 and long haul COVID-19 to the list of diseases that need more research to develop treatments. We know first hand that once your lungs are damaged, there is little medical science can do at this time. We want to change that and need your help to do so.
Thank you to our sponsors this year, Gabler Trucking; Patrick McGuire, Merrill Lynch; Gary Meanor,Equitable; Ryan Stouffer, CPA; Chris Reibsome, Attorney at Law; and Forest Myers Attorney at Law. We could not do this without you!
An additional thank you to all the organizations who offer support to this event: Powertrain, Butcher Shoppe, Jennings Autobody, Gearhouse, Brewing Company, Dayhaven Properties, Chambersburg Road Runners, Healthy Communities Partnership,
Thank you for your support and understanding. Please get vaccinated, wear a mask, wash your hands and keep yourself, your loved ones and other’s loved ones safe. We hope to see you all in person in 2022.
